Please join IPMA-HR Colorado and our panel of distinguished leaders for a deep and honest discussion around Creating a Culture of Inclusion. This event will be our final event of the season and in line with our tradition it will be an afternoon event followed by a Happy Hour. 

Panel Bios

Darren Kanthal:


With over 20 years of experience, Darren Kanthal has held leadership roles across various facets of Human Resources and Talent Acquisition. He has designed and implemented talent management programs in addition to several successful recruitment programs including college, veteran, and employee referral programs.  In his current role as a Coach and Consultant, he helps individuals, small businesses, and non-profits solve people problems with an empathetic and straight-to-the-point approach.

Kim Desmond:


Kim Desmond has over 15 years of experience in the non-profit and government sector within the field of diversity, inclusion, racial equity, and early childhood development. She currently works in the Agency for Human Rights and Community Partnerships with the City and County of Denver as the Director of the Denver Office of Equity and Social Innovation. Her direct oversight includes leading a Race and Social Justice Initiative under Mayor Michael B. Hancock’s Equity Platform and serving as the Staff Liaison to two Mayoral appointed commissions.

Morag Barrett:


Morag Barrett is the best-selling author of Cultivate: The Power of Winning Relationships and The Future-Proof Workplace. She is also the founder and CEO of SkyeTeam, an international leadership development company.

As a sought out speaker and leadership development expert, Morag’s experience ranges from senior executive coaching, developing high impact teams, to facilitating leadership development programs across Europe, America, and Asia. At last count Morag has worked with more than 6,000 leaders in 20 countries and on four continents in companies as diverse as Google, Scholastic, Google, Topgolf, Level 3 Communications and the Charter Communications.

Morag has been featured in Business Insider, Entrepreneur.com, CIO.com and the American Management Association among others.

With more than 30 years’ experience in industries around the globe, Morag understands the challenges of running a business and managing the people within the company to deliver outstanding results.  

Nadine Bridges, MSW:


Nadine has been an advocate for the rights and the respect for youth throughout her career, spending the last ten years working with youth, families, and communities in Denver and Boulder.  She has a deep passion for understanding community, inclusivity, the world we live in, and how these factors affect youth and families.  She is a strong proponent of positive youth development and the importance of ensuring that others who serve youth, understand the benefits that come from partnering with youth, as well as creating brave spaces for youth to thrive.

Nadine is deeply committed to social justice, equity, and working with communities to achieve their best health.  Her professional and life experiences have demonstrated a strong capacity for assisting colleagues, the community, and youth to use the skills, tools, and resources required to promote success in their life’s path regardless of their individual circumstances and background.  

Nadine has been a professor, director, counselor, mentor, volunteer, and activist. She volunteered in Nicaragua with the Peace Corps in the youth development sector; started her own mentor program, during her undergraduate years at the College of Charleston; taught Spanish at a charter school in Charleston, South Carolina; and led a successful LGBTQ youth center in Denver, Colorado. Currently, Nadine works as the Community Health Division Manager at Boulder County Public Health and as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver. Nadine earned her BS in Biology from the College of Charleston and her Master of Social Work from the University of Denver along with a Certificate for Social Work with Latinos/as.

Frederick (Fred) Davis, MA:  


Fred is an accomplished professional with experience as a senior leader.  His achievements progress towards organizational Strategic Planning, Human Resources Leadership, Program Development, Business Development and progressive Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives.  

Fred acquired his Bachelor’s degree at Colorado State University where he was a three-year letterman in football and he received his Master’s degree from San Francisco State University. 

Before working as a chief officer in the startup tech industry for four years and the City and County of Denver, Fred has worked with three Fortune 500 companies as part of their Global Diversity & Inclusion and Human Resources teams.  He also has an extensive background working in non-profit senior leadership education as well as education where he served as adjunct faculty at two other colleges where he has taught courses in Ethnic StudiesThe Civil Rights Movement and Multicultural Counseling.

His educational background, work experience, drive, passion and leadership skills are the consistent qualities where Frederick has developed a strong reputation.

    Following the presentation, attendees are welcome to leave their cars parked at Employers Council while they attend the networking event (it's walking distance!).

     

    Social / Networking Event:

    In appreciation for our chapter members, HR community, and the end of a successful season, the Chapter will be hosting a social event for networking and celebration.

    The social will start at 4:30 p.m., immediately following our monthly meeting, and light appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.  Alcoholic drinks will be on your own.
