IPMA-HR Colorado hosts a wide variety of networking and educational events. Please see our list of upcoming events below.

Re-certification Credit for HRCI and SHRM

The IPMA-HR Colorado Chapter does not currently go through the preapproval process for re-certification credit hours for HRCI or SHRM. Event participants are encouraged to use and manually submit IPMA program attendance information, as our workshops will most likely be approved for re-certification hours.

    HR in Interesting Times

We are living and working in interesting times. The country is seemingly divided on nearly every issue. With the Internet, every person has a voice. #MeToo is a force impacting work. Now settled in, the Trump Administration has been changing the regulatory environment at work. Courts are actively involved in addressing work issues. What does HR need to know to help guide organizations in this dizzying working world?

Hot topics this year will include regulatory changes in federal policy on workplace issues; the impact of #metoo; managing leaves of absence and other time off; and marijuana and opioid use by employees. As always, with good humor, Chuck's session will explore some of the more "unusual" questions that have arisen in the past year in order to keep abreast of the most cutting-edge legal issues involving work and its human resources.

    About the Presenter:

Chuck Passaglia is an employment law attorney who has represented both employers and employees in employment disputes. He sees both sides of workplace conflicts. Prior to forming Employment Law Solutions Inc., Chuck Passaglia had already presented hundreds of classes, seminars and lectures to businesses, non-profit organizations, and human resources’ groups. He has also written frequently on employment law topics. His published works include the following: Contributing Author, The Practitioner’s Guide to Colorado Employment Law (CLE in Colorado, Inc. 1998 & 2006); “Appearance Discrimination: The Evidence of the Weight,” The Colorado Lawyer (April 1994); “State Laws: A Growing Minefield for Employers,” The Colorado Lawyer (May 1994); “USERRA: Bolstering Veterans’ Rights,” The Colorado Lawyer (March 1995) and “The FMLA at Four: Insights and Ideas for the Employment Lawyer,” The Colorado Lawyer (November 1997).

Before he formed his own practice, Mr. Passaglia was in-house counsel to Mountain States Employers Council Inc.; was as a litigation associate with Moye, Giles, O’Keefe, Vermeire & Gorrell in Denver; and served on active duty in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. He served on the staff of the Amphibious Task Group Commander during combat support operations in the Persian Gulf War (“Operation Desert Storm”) and, more recently, he was on duty at the North American Aerospace Defense (NORAD) Command, in Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado, during the 9/11 attacks on America.

Mr. Passaglia is from Littleton, Colorado. He graduated from St. Louis University, a Jesuit college in St. Louis, Missouri, with a B.A., magna cum laude, in Philosophy. He received his law degree from the University of Denver College of Law, where he served on the Board of Editors of the Denver University Law Review.

Active in his community, Mr. Passaglia holds the rank of Captain in the United States Navy Reserve; is an adjunct faculty member for Regis University, in Denver, Colorado; served as Legislative Affairs Director for the Colorado State SHRM Council; and was a volunteer for the Colorado Committee for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
